The LCO is a registered charity (No. SCO22134)
Sally has been a superb leader of the
LCO since 2012. She brings great
expertise to our string section and the
whole orchestra and generally keep us
on our toes. Sally studied for 4 years at
the Royal Academy of Music in London
where her principal study was violin
but where she also took lessons in
piano and singing. On the completion
of her course she was with the
Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra,
then the BBC Scottish Symphony
Orchestra and subsequently with the
Orchestra of the Ballet Rambert.
When Sally married she returned to Glasgow and although she didn’t
return to full time playing she did deputy work for the Scottish
National Orchestra, the BBC Symphony and Radio Orchestra and also
played for several shows.
After the birth of her children Sally began teaching in Strathclyde
Region and then South Lanarkshire until she retired in 2002. She was
also a tutor with the Lanarkshire Orchestral Society from 1978 – 2002.
Sally continued to play and was leader of the Glasgow Orchestral
Society from 1987 – 2012. As well as playing Sally loves to read, listen
to the radio, is very interested in Art, loves to walk and go to concerts
and the opera.
Caitlin Hollinger took up the baton in September 2014 when
Harry Watson retired. She had been Assistant Conductor for
2 years prior to this. Caitlin has a BMus (Hon) and has a long
and varied musical career which currently includes singing
in the RSNO Chorus and establishing and conducting the
Wee Sing Choir
